Most Kenyans would agree that the NFL is the most likely choice to be a favorite of all the sports that individuals will place a wager. Many people have only recently been introduced to sports betting in the last few years. It is understandable that many people do not know where to start when looking to bet on the NFL or how to do so.

Each NFL football game has literally hundreds of different betting markets to choose from, whether it’s betting on the winning team, betting either for or against the point spread on your favorite team, or betting prop bets that range from touchdown scorers to team-related prop bets. There are few limits to the potential outcomes of any one game when betting on the NFL. Most individuals place bets on NFL games by using either the Moneyline, Point Spread, or Total Points.

When placing a Moneyline bet, the bettor is betting on the outright winner of the game, while in the case of Point Spread betting, the bettors will be wagering on whether or not their selected team has either covered or failed to cover the point spread. Lastly, bettors will also have the option of placing a total points bet, which reflects whether the total number of points scored in the game will exceed or be fewer than the total number of points that the two teams were given prior to the start of the game.

NFL Betting This Week

In relation to other professional sports leagues like (NBA) National Basketball Association (MLB) Major League Baseball and (NHL) National Hockey League (NHL), the NFL’s 18‐week baseball schedule is less than half that of its closest rival, as there are only 16 football games played each week. Because we’ve only got a handful of opportunities to bet on each team, it’s important to do the necessary amount of research in advance of placing any wagers on nfl betting this week, as every single game carries significant weight and is rescheduled if there are any major upsets in the previous week.

Every single week of the NFL regular season (including the Super Bowl), our professional handicappers at Pickswise do all of the hard work for you, putting forth lots of effort in finding the best line, odds, and ultimately bet on the NFL favorites. Each week prior to the starting of the NFL, we will have an analysis of the NFL betting market, all necessary statistics for making successful wagers in advance of playing, and overall, how we came about to what we did.

All of the NFL betting analysis we provide to our customers is made available two to three days before the start of the football season to give each of our clients enough time and the ability review our work before placing their bets on an NFL team. Make sure to check back with us each week to find out who our NFL betting experts recommend for their weekly betting picks.

NFL Betting Lines

Betting on the NFL is a topic of discussion every week in the lead-up to the start of the games and includes almost all of the major news sources as well. The betting lines are taken down after each team has played, but sometimes they can't be released until after a major injury has been reported.

If you're a sharp bettor, you would like to know what the line is on as soon as you can, and to do that you will basically want to place a bet on the opening betting line so that you can potentially make money on the line changing between the opening line and when a certain group of people have bet on the line that has increased.

Sometimes the line will change from when you placed your bet to when they release the line, and if you bet on the winning side of the line movement you could win a bet on the Chiefs as -6 while somebody betting on the Chiefs on Sunday would pay -8. This difference in point spread could potentially cause you to lose a bet, and that if you follow our updates on the lines every week you'll have the resources necessary to build a solid betting strategy.

Types Of NFL Betting

Betting on an NFL game offers numerous options; from betting on team outcomes to utilizing more complicated options regarding individual players' statistics or performance statistics, NFL betting allows for more betting options than every other sport combined. Listed below are some popular forms of betting on NFL games.

NFL Money Line Betting

One of the most straightforward ways to bet on an NFL game is with an NFL money line bet. By betting on the money line, you are simply choosing which team you believe will win the game. While the NFL does feature rare partnerships, when a partnership occurs, those who made bets only on the winning team would be able to make claims against their losing bets under a two way money line (meaning they would not make profits).

Conversely, under a three way money line (which allows a tie), the person who made a winning wager against the tied team will lose money.

NFL Against The Spread Betting

The most popular form of betting on National Football League (NFL) games each week is NFL betting against the spread. Betting against the spread involves either betting on the favorite to win by more than a specified amount of points, or betting whether or not the underdog will lose by less than that same amount (or if they will win outright).

NFL Over Under Betting

When you don’t have a favorite team or expect it will be a close, intense, or high-scoring game, you can still wager on the same game using NFL betting over/under. With over/under betting, you are wagering on the total points scored by both teams. Sportsbooks will give you the line to bet on, like 48.5, which means that if the total score of both teams is 49 points or more, then you would win by betting on the over. Conversely, if the total score is 48 points or less, then you would win by betting on the under.

NFL Player Proposition Betting

In addition to NFL player proposition (also referred to as NFL prop bet) bets, there exists another category known as NFL team proposition (or team prop bet) bets. Both types of propositions can be about a player's performance (e.g., player gets a touchdown) or some team achievement (e.g., team wins the game).

This makes for many interesting match-ups. A player prop bet that is very common would be whether or not a certain player will score a touchdown, but you could also find various props for other performance markers such as whether or not they will have over or under a certain yardage total for passing, rushing, or receiving.

NFL Team Propositions Betting

In addition, like NFL players' proposition bets, there are also team proposition bets; these Proposition Bets are also concerning teams and whether or not they will do something in an NFL game. Similar to the player prop, the team props allow you to explore any possible outcome you can think of regarding a team's performance. The advantage of team props is that they allow you to make wagers on teams that you may like even though you might not like one of the other teams as much.

NFL Parlay Betting

Throughout the entire NFL season, basically every Sunday, there will always be a full slate of NFL games to wager on; this leads many NFL bettors to choose NFL parlays as one of their preferred methods to wager. It is important to note that while ultimately each player's long-term profits will come from making individual wagers, this should absolutely be your primary method of betting, and there is nothing wrong with shooting for the moon when betting on an NFL parlay.

One of the benefits of an NFL parlay is that the more selections you add to your parlay, the more potential payouts you will receive; however, this can lead to a significantly increased level of difficulty when it comes to hitting on any of your parlays. Generally, 2, 3 & 4-team parlays will provide you the best value when wagering on the NFL, because on any given Sunday any team can lose to another team, at least from an upset potential.

NFL Teaser Betting

Teaser betting in the NFL is an example of a parlay; however, teaser betting is much more favorable because the handicap (the number of points that are added to or subtracted from the point spread) is to your advantage and there are several different types of teaser bets (subtracting 6 points on a 2-team teaser is the most common).

For example, if you were to bet on 2 different teams, the 1st team's point spread was -3 and you used a 2-team teaser where you would get to subtract 6 points from both point spreads, the 1st team would be at +3 for the purpose of your bet. Based on the fact that there is a high percentage of NFL games that are either won or lost by 3 or fewer points, this adjustment gives you a significant benefit going into the game.
