How We Rate

Our rankings are built from checks that can be verified by anyone with the same account: licensing, the smallest accepted shilling deposit, mobile-money payout speed, the real terms of the welcome offer, the apps that exist, the payment rails supported and how many countries the operator actually serves. Nothing on this page depends on how a site feels to us.

The seven checks

• Licensing. Whether the operator holds a Kenyan licence — and if it does not, which offshore authority it answers to instead.
• Minimum deposit. The smallest shilling amount the cashier will accept, taken from the cashier, not from the marketing page.
• Welcome offer. The maximum, the rollover multiple and the deadline, quoted together or not at all.
• Payout speed. How long an M-Pesa withdrawal takes once the account is verified.
• Apps. Whether a native app exists for the device you are holding, and where it is downloaded from.
• Mobile-money rails. Support for M-Pesa and Airtel Money, plus bank transfer, cards and crypto where they exist.
• Reach. How many countries the operator serves, as a proxy for how long it has been running a real business.

How a ranking is built from them

Each shortlist starts from the operators that pass the check the page is about — a page about small deposits only lists books that take small deposits — and the top of the list goes to the biggest verified offer among the books we have a commercial arrangement with. The filters above every table are the same seven checks, so you can rebuild the order yourself and see which operators drop out of it.

What the number next to each row means

The figure out of ten is a position marker for that shortlist and nothing more: it follows the order of the table you are looking at, so the same operator can carry a different figure on another page whose check suits it better. It is not a test score, it is not an average of the seven checks, and it does not come from an account of ours. Read the row, not the number: the licence, the minimum deposit and the payout window under each brand are the parts that are taken from a source.

What we do not do

We do not state anything about a bookmaker we cannot show you: no invented licence numbers, no borrowed bonus figures, no claim to have deposited or withdrawn money ourselves. Where an operator does not publish a number, the field stays empty on the page rather than being filled with a plausible one. Where a licence number comes from the operator's own page and not from the authority's list, we say which of the two it is. Links to operators are commercial and marked as such, and a commercial arrangement does affect which books reach a shortlist and in what order. What it cannot touch is a fact: a licence, a rollover multiple or a cashier minimum is what the operator publishes, whether or not we are paid for the click.

Corrections

Terms change without notice, and pages here carry the date they were last checked. If a number on this site is out of date, tell us on the contact page and we will re-check it against the operator's own cashier.
